Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 March 2026

1. Who we are

FoundYa ("we", "us", "our") provides NFC-enabled pet identification products, this website, and related mobile applications (together, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with your use of the Services.

2. Information we collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Account details: name, email address, and credentials you provide when you register or sign in (including via social login where you choose that option).
  • Pet and tag data: information you add to pet profiles (for example name, photo, medical notes you choose to store), tag identifiers, and lost-mode or visibility settings you configure.
  • Location data: where you or finders enable location (for example when a tag is scanned and location is shared), we process that information to deliver lost-pet and related alerts you have asked for.
  • Technical data: device type, app and OS versions, push notification tokens, and log or diagnostic data needed to operate and secure the Services.
  • Communications: content of messages you send us (for example support requests) and metadata needed to respond.
  • Payment information: billing-related details processed by our payment providers; we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve the Services;
  • authenticate users and protect accounts;
  • send service, safety, and (where permitted) marketing communications, according to your preferences;
  • display pet and tag information you choose to make available to finders or the public, as configured in the product;
  • process orders and subscriptions;
  • comply with law and respond to lawful requests; and
  • detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues.

4. Disclosure

We may share information with service providers who assist us (for example hosting, email delivery, payments, analytics, and push notifications), where they are bound to appropriate confidentiality and data-handling obligations. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public. If we ever undertook a merger or asset sale, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or equivalent protections.

5. Overseas recipients

Some of our providers may process data in countries outside your local jurisdiction. Where this occurs, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure appropriate safeguards apply.

6. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we encourage strong passwords and careful sharing of pet profile information.

7. Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account subject to any legal holds or legitimate retention needs.

8. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and applicable rules, you may have the right to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, and to make a complaint. Contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

9. Children

The Services are not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated through the Services or by email where appropriate.

The Services may gain new features over time. If we introduce a material new way of collecting, using, or sharing personal information, we will reflect that in an updated Privacy Policy before or when that processing begins, and where the law requires we will obtain your consent or give you notice.
