Emergency Contacts
Add trusted people who should be contacted if your pet goes missing or needs urgent help.
Emergency contacts are people outside your FoundYa household who should be reached in an emergency - a trusted neighbour, your vet clinic, or a family member who doesn't use the app.
Adding emergency contacts
- Go to Account Settings → Emergency Contacts in the dashboard
- Tap Add Contact
- Enter their name, phone number, and (optionally) email address
- Choose the contact type - personal or vet
Vet contacts also appear on your pet's public profile (name and phone number only) so finders can reach a vet directly if your pet is injured.
When are they contacted?
Emergency contacts are not automatically notified by the platform. They serve as a reference list for:
- You and your household - quick access to important phone numbers during a crisis
- Finders - vet contacts are shown on the public pet profile so a finder can call your vet directly
- Sentinels - during coordinated lost mode searches, vet and emergency contact details are available to responders where appropriate
Add your regular vet clinic as an emergency contact. If someone finds your pet injured, having the vet's number on the tag profile could save critical time.
Emergency contacts vs household members
- Household members have full access to your pets, tags, and account features through their own FoundYa login
- Emergency contacts are just contact records - they don't have app access or receive push notifications
If you want someone to actively manage your pet's profile, invite them to your household instead.
