The Community Map
How the community tab works, including found pet reports and Sentinel coverage.
The Community tab gives you a local view of pet safety activity in your area - found pet reports, Sentinel coverage, and lost pet alerts.
What you can see
- Lost pets nearby - active lost mode alerts from pet owners in your area, showing the pet's photo, name, breed, and last known location
- Found pet reports - reports submitted by community members who've found a stray or lost animal
- Your Sentinel status - whether you're opted in to receive alerts and your configured alert radius
Reporting a found pet
If you find a pet (with or without a FoundYa tag), you can submit a report:
- Go to the Community tab
- Tap Report Found Pet
- Add a photo, description, and the location where you found the pet
- Submit the report
Your report becomes visible to nearby FoundYa users and is cross-referenced with active lost mode searches to help find a match.
Even if the pet has a FoundYa tag, submitting a found pet report creates a visible record on the community map that other searchers can see. It complements the direct messaging from a tag scan.
Becoming a Sentinel
From the Community tab, you can opt in to become a Sentinel - a community member who receives push notifications when a pet goes missing nearby. You choose your alert radius and can opt out at any time.
See Sentinels & Community Alerts for more detail.
