Messaging a Finder (or Owner)

How the FoundYa messaging system works for both pet owners and people who find lost pets.

When someone taps a FoundYa tag, they can send a message to the pet's owner. The messaging system keeps both parties' personal details private until they choose to share them.

How it works for finders

  1. Tap the pet's NFC tag or scan the QR code
  2. The pet's public profile opens in the browser
  3. Tap Contact Owner
  4. Type a message - e.g. "Found your dog at Princes Park, he's safe with me"
  5. Send - no account or app download required

The message is delivered to the pet's owner as a push notification and appears in their Messages inbox.

How it works for owners

When a finder messages you:

  1. You receive a push notification with the message preview
  2. Open the FoundYa app or dashboard and go to Messages
  3. Select the conversation thread
  4. Reply to coordinate the reunion

Each scan/message creates a separate thread, so you can manage multiple conversations if your pet's tag is scanned by different people.

Info

Messages are tied to the tag scan, not to personal accounts. The finder's name and contact details are never shared unless they choose to include them in their message.

Privacy

  • Owners - your email, phone number, and address are never shown to finders
  • Finders - you're not tracked or identified beyond what you voluntarily write in your message
  • Messages - stored securely and visible only to the conversation participants
