How Lost Mode Works

Lost Mode is FoundYa's core recovery feature. When activated, it transforms your pet's scan page into a recovery tool and alerts you the moment their tag is tapped.

Activating lost mode

1. Open your pet's detail page
2. Tap the Lost Mode button
3. Confirm to activate

Once active:

• Your pet's public scan page shows a prominent LOST banner
• Every tag scan sends you an instant push notification with GPS coordinates
• Your pet appears on the Community map for nearby Sentinels

What happens when someone scans the tag

1. The finder sees the pet's photo, name, and a clear "This pet is lost" message
2. They can message you directly through the app (no account needed)
3. If they allow location access, their GPS coordinates are logged and sent to you
4. You receive a push notification with the scan location on a map

Recovery tools

From the Lost Mode dashboard, you have access to:

• Scan map - see where your pet's tag has been scanned in real-time
• Share link - copy your pet's public profile URL to share on social media
• SMS & email alerts - notify your emergency contacts on each scan (Essentials pack)
• Lost pet poster - auto-generate a printable poster with your pet's photo (Pro pack)
• Community alert - notify nearby FoundYa Sentinels (Pro pack)

Marking as found

When your pet is home safe, tap Mark as Found on the Lost Mode dashboard. This:

• Removes the LOST banner from the scan page
• Notifies anyone who messaged you that the pet is safe
• Closes active finder threads
