Set Up Your Pet's Profile Properly
Get the most out of FoundYa by filling in your pet's profile with the right details.
A complete pet profile helps finders identify your pet quickly and gives your household a central place for important information.
Essential fields
When you add or edit a pet, make sure to include:
- Clear, recent photo - a well-lit, front-facing photo is the single most important piece of information for a finder. Avoid group shots or heavy filters.
- Name - what your pet responds to.
- Species and breed - helps finders and vets identify your pet if the photo isn't enough.
- Date of birth - used to display your pet's age on the profile.
Optional but valuable
- Microchip number - stored securely and visible only to your household. Useful if a vet needs to cross-reference.
- Diet and allergies - helpful for anyone caring for your pet temporarily.
- Behaviour notes - let finders know if your pet is nervous, friendly, or has specific handling needs.
- Distinguishing features - scars, markings, or accessories that make your pet recognisable.
Update your pet's photo at least once a year. Puppies and kittens change fast, and an outdated photo makes identification harder.
Who can see what
- Finders see the photo, name, breed, and age on the public profile.
- Your household sees everything, including medical records and vet contacts.
- Personal details like your address and phone number are never shown publicly.
Next steps
- Medical Records & Vet Contacts to store vaccination and health data
- Manage Your Household to give family members access
